Milestones along the founder's path

Andrea Hornung combines deep expertise in cybersecurity with a great passion for sharing knowledge.

Her academic roots lie in information science and innovation management. She gained practical experience in futures research and digital transformation early on. As a certified trainer she thoroughly enjoyed running seminars on methodological and social skills while still studying.

A formative chapter took her to the innovation centre of a software company in Australia, where she worked on machine learning solutions for banks and public administrations in an intercultural team of data scientists.

After falling victim to a sophisticated cyber attack in Manila, Andrea resolved to take action against growing cybercrime and joined the cyber risk advisory practice of a global consulting firm. There she designed, among other things, cyber awareness campaigns in close cooperation with CISOs and carried out risk analyses in the area of third party management.

Andrea then spent more than seven years at PricewaterhouseCoopers GmbH Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft (PwC), most recently as a Senior Manager in Cybersecurity & Privacy. After numerous project assignments at companies across a wide range of industries, from start-ups and SMEs through to large corporations, she specialised in cybersecurity in M&A. She identified cyber risks along the entire deal lifecycle, derived security measures, potential deal breakers and investment costs from risk assessments, and helped protect her clients' transaction value in the long term.

For two consecutive years Andrea was nominated as a "Female Role Model" as part of PwC's Diversity & Inclusion initiative. Alongside leading projects and managing staff, she also cooperated with PwC's Immersive Technologies team on services around cyber risks in augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and the metaverse, which she finds fascinating.

Andrea has also been active for many years in the innovation ecosystem for start-ups in cybersecurity, AI and deep tech. She is an active member of Encourage Ventures and an ambassador for Not The Hidden Wiki.

As Innovation Manager for Cybersecurity & Digital Resilience at SIBB e.V., the association of the software, information and communications industry in Berlin and Brandenburg, Andrea develops support services and innovation formats for the secure digitalisation of SMEs. In this role she works at the interface between companies, experts, partner organisations and the regional innovation ecosystem.

Andrea founded IMPULSPACE with the mission of enabling people and organisations to uncover cyber risks and equipping them with the knowledge and skills to act securely and confidently in a dynamic digital world. She delivers keynotes and seminars for clients with great enthusiasm and develops learning content for training institutes.
